Bangkok, capital city of Thailand

Bangkok may be the capital of Thailand along with the largest city in the united states. But it is typically only called Bangkok in English. In Thai, it is called Krung Thep Maka Nakhon, or perhaps Krung Thep.

Its owner's name is "Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit."

It is the only cosmopolitan city in a very country of small towns and villages which is Thailand’s cultural and commercial centre.

Bangkok is situated on the delta with the Chao Phraya River , about 25 miles from the Gulf of Thailand .

It was formerly split up into two municipalities-Krung Thep about the east bank and Thon Buri for the west-connected by several bridges.

In 1971 both were united being a city-province using a single municipal government. In 1972 the city and also the two surrounding provinces were merged into one province, called Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok Metropolis ).

The metropolis is often a bustling, crowded city, with temples, factories, shops, and homes juxtaposed along its roads and canals. It is also a major tourist destination, recognized for bountiful cultural attractions along with a nightlife that features a flourishing sex trade.
